Re: [fishingtheusaandcanada] Long-range CASTING

I have a 15' surf rod, but it has never given me anywhere near that range.
It is always an "into-the-wind" cast in my area and when I cast that hard, I throw off bait and get a backlash and the line breaks.
Believe me, I've tried everything.
Check out the attached pic....

What sort of range do you need? The rods (12'-13') I sell to carp anglers are capable of 100 yard casts in the hands of a moderately skilled person and 175 yards in the hands of someone with good technique and a fair bit of practice. We sell a few of these to surf anglers as well.

Subject: [fishingtheusaandcanada] Long-range CASTING

I live in South Texas, and wish to build a catapult-type device to
propel bait into the surf for Shark fishing.
I hate wading out because of the stingrays and jellyfish.
I am searching for information or plans on a slingshot type of casting
catapult that I believe is currently being used to fish from the bank
for sturgeon.
Have you ever seen anything like this, or know of a website where I can
locate plans or more information?
I tried to post a picture, but had no success.
