Never really seen flourcarbon leaders in the 12 to 18 inch size but I'm sure they are not hard to make. I will check some of my fishing supply catalogs.
thank you for your thoughts, Marty

Aloha,
Fishing for Pike, is like fishing for Wahoo, both have
really sharp teeth (or I assume that Pike have sharp
teeth). There are 2 schools of thought to using steel
leaders: One says that you gotta use them or lose the
fish when he cuts the mono. The other says use the
mono because steel leader makes a noise in the water
and may, or may not scare the fish away. I think the
latter is true because I get a lot more bites on my
lures that do not have steel leaders. All my lures
have mono leaders, 12 feet of 400 lb test. I don't
suggest 12 feet of 400 lb test mono, but 18 inches of
maybe 200 or 300 lb test of flourocarbon. I don't
think a Pike will be able to cut through or see that
kind of line.
