Missouri Department of Conservation Statewide Fishing Report  5/1/2008 at 10:41:23  Attention Fishing Report Subscribers:  Welcome to the 2008 fishing report season!   **PLEASE REMEMBER** IN MOST STREAMS SOUTH OF THE MISSOURI RIVER, BLACK BASS  SEASON WILL OPEN 05/24/08, UNTIL THAT DATE ALL BLACK BASS IN THOSE STREAMS MUST  BE RETURNED TO THE WATER UNHARMED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING CAUGHT. FOR DETAILS  SEE CHAPTER 6 OF THE WILDLIFE CODE.   The fishing report does not necessarily reflect current floating conditions. (Report  made on 5/1/2008)  Lake of the Ozarks (Bagnell Tailwater): 52 degrees, high, dingy; white bass good  on light-colored soft plastics; crappie fair on crappie jigs; catfish slow on  worms and cut shad. (Report made on 4/30/2008)  Lake of the Ozarks (Glaize): 58 degrees, high, muddy; black bass fair on  dark-colored plastic worms and buzzbaits; white bass slow on light-colored soft  plastics; crappie fair on minnows and crappie jigs; catfish slow on worms and  chicken livers. (Report made on 4/30/2008)  Lake of the Ozarks (Gravois): 58 degrees, high, dingy; black bass good; crappie  slow, have gone back off the bank; catfish fair. (Report made on 4/30/2008)  Lake of the Ozarks (Niangua): 58 degrees, high, dingy; black bass fair on  spinnerbaits on windy points; crappie fair, males are on the banks, so the spawn  has begun, Road Runners and Curly Tails are working best, also try minnows on a  bobber in the shallows; catfish slow. (Report made on 5/1/2008)  ---------------------- TROUT PARKS  Bennett Spring State Park: 54 degrees, high, dingy; water level is 4 inches  above normal; and beginning to clear; successful lures and baits include: jigs  (red & white, black & yellow), mini-jigs (bedspread and John Deere), glo-balls  (Easter egg 3-color, anything with pink), other lures; 1/8 ounce Rooster Tails  in bright colors and  Power Baits (pink, and white colors) all fished deep; May  Fishing hours are 6:30am to 8:15pm;  Annual Kid's Free Fishing Day is on May 3 for kids 15 years and younger. (Report made on 5/1/2008)  Montauk State Park: 57 degrees, normal, clear; fishing has been good; bait  fishermen have been doing well with Power Baits and homemade doughbaits, try  corn or worms beneath a bobber or doughbaits fished on the bottom;  fly and lure  fishermen have been catching fish on various wet flies, spinners and lures; fish  deep with dark colors for best results; May fishing hours are 6:30am to 8:15pm;  Annual Kid's Free Fishing Day is on Saturday, May 3 for kids 15 years and  younger. The event runs from 6:30am to 8:15pm.
