Aloha,
Sharks must love me! 'Cause I feed them so much!
Last Saturday, Jack Marshall, Scott Phillips and I
went fishing off Kwajalein Atoll's reef and we had a
fairly good day. We caught 5 Wahoo (weighing from 20
to 30 lbs each), dropped a 30 pounder back in the
water when scott was heaving it by the leader, onto
the boat, lost two more when they came off the hooks,
and fed two to sharks. Please see the attached
picture. The biggest shark bitten head weighed in the
neighborhood of 15 lbs. and I was able to get 5 lbs.
of meat off that. My guestimate is the ravaged Wahoo
would have probably weighed about 40 lbs. Still 110
lbs of fish we caught over 5 hours is not bad a catch.
Still wish we had brought in all the hooked fish with
no tax paid to the tax collector in the grey suit!
Where are all you shark fishermen when we need you? I
know them sharks got my number and probably sit out
there waiting at the SAR Pass exit from the lagoon.
"Oh good! There's Les! He's always good for a few
fish. We'll just follow him."
