Fishing was gone with wind
Chilly rain across the interior of the Carolinas and strong winds along the coast generally disrupted fishing the past few days.However, angling action is anticipated to rebound with better weather mostly forecasted for the next week.

The Report
1. LAKE NORMAN: Striped bass in the backs of creeks and uplake toward Lookout Dam on live baits worked shallow. Largemouth along the shoreline on artificial lizards, worms, skirted spinnerbaits. Crappie around docks and shallow brush.
2. LAKE WYLIE: Largemouth around boat houses on crankbaits and soft plastic lures in reddish patterns. Crappie around piers and shallow brush, mostly on minnows. White perch along the river channel 20-24 feet deep on jigs, minnows.
3. LAKES BADIN, TILLERY BLEWETT FALLS: Crappie, mainly in shallow water, on jigs, minnows. White perch at Tillery on jigs, minnows, small spoons.
4. HIGH ROCK LAKE: Expected to improve quickly for crappie after a slump over the weekend because of chilly weather. Some largemouth on crankbaits, spinnerbaits cast to the shoreline.
5. LAKES HICKORY, RHODHISS: Crappie in both reservoirs around docks and brush, mainly on minnows. Scattered largemouth on artificial worms, crankbaits.
6. LAKE JAMES: Smallmouth bass off the points on shiners.
7. FONTANA LAKE: A slowdown in the smallmouth bite, because of heavy rains that raised the lake level 4 feet over the weekend, is expected to end. Action previously was excellent on shiners fished just off the shoreline. Scattered walleye on crawlers.
8. LAKE WATEREE: Largemouth along the shoreline and round docks on crankbaits, spinnerbaits. Stripers downlake on live herring, shiners. Crappie in the larger creeks on minnows. Catfish on cut baits near deep holes.
9. LAKE HARTWELL: Stripers, hybrids in the tailwaters of the upstream dam and up the Seneca River on gizzard shad. Largemouth, moving to the shoreline, on a variety of lures. Crappie in brush 10-15 feet deep on jigs, minnows.
10. LAKE JOCASSEE: Trout on spoons trolled from the surface down to 40 feet. Also on drift-fished live baits, with night-fishing producing especially well.
11. LAKE KEOWEE: Spotted bass on artificial worms and jerkbaits in either red or black/silver color patterns. Largemouth, moving shallow, on shad-colored baits.
12. LAKE MURRAY: Stripers on live baits worked shallow with planer boards. Also, stripers on cut baits. Largemouth around shoreline brush, fallen trees and at docks on crankbaits and soft plastic lures. Crappie near the mouths of creek channels. Shellcrackers along the banks on crickets, earthworms.
13. LAKE THURMOND: Stripers, hybrids on free-lined live herring near the dam. Largemouth uplake in the backs of creeks on crankbaits, spinnerbaits.
14. SANTEE-COOPER RESERVOIR: Lake Marion: Largemouth at the upper end of the reservoir on artificial worms, crankbaits, spinnerbaits. Blue catfish very shallow on chunks of herring, threadfin shad and white perch. Crappie in Jack's Creek, Poplar Creek and at Stumphole Landing. Shellcrackers in the State Park Area and at Stumphole. Lake Moultrie: Largemouth in the backs of coves on artificial worms, crankbaits. Catfish on cutbaits worked in shallow stumpfields. Crappie on jigs, minnows around shallow brush. Scattered stripers near the mouth of the Diversion Canal on bucktails.
15. OUTER BANKS: Little activity reported because of winds gusting to 25 mph. A few blues, reds and trout around the bridges near Manteo and Nags Head. Scattered blues and whiting in the Hatteras Island surf. One large red drum, a few puppy drum and blues to 3 pounds in the Ocracoke Island surf. Whiting along the beach from Morehead City down to Bogue Inlet.
16. SOUTHEASTERN N.C. COAST: Reds, small flounder very shallow in the backs of creeks.
17. S.C. COAST: Black seabass offshore from all ports when sea conditions are favorable. Little River: Trout in the Intracoastal Waterway on artificial shrimp, grubs; Grand Strand: Black drum, spottails in the creeks on live mullet, mud minnows; Charleston area: Spottails, trout in the Intracoastal waterway, creeks and sounds on live baits, soft plastic lures and sheepshead in schools around the near-shore reefs; Hilton Head: Good numbers of spottails, trout and sheepshead continue to be caught when anglers can get at them.
