Re: [fishingtheusaandcanada] Snakehead Tournie

Thomas,

Snakeheads are fish from the (Channa ) genus. The are long eel like fish that are carnivorous and have huge appetites. The are listed as a invasive alien species by the US gov.

They are a food fish elsewhere in the world.

The problem with them is that they can aggressive outcompete native species in the waters that they are introduced.

They are listed as a "Kill on sight" species and if caught they should be reported to the local fish and game authorities for tracking.

if you go through the article listings on this listing you can see that they are spreading rapidly...Human agents are most likely involved.

From an angling perspective, they are a aggressive, hard fighting fish. will take most baits natural and artificial. They are considered excellent table fare also.

Best Regards,
Hank
