I was trying to find any lakes or rivers that had catfish in the state of Maine but I could not, I thought every state would have catfish in them but maybe not. Questions for members, anybody know of freshwater Catfish in the State of Maine (type of Catfish and Lake and/or River found)
Robin, I also remembering catching a strange looking saltwater fish in Maine, I think it was called a Sea Robin but sure of the name, have you ever heard of them or caught them.
thanks, Marty

Yes they are fresh water. These live in alot of our lakes. There are some fish in our salt water that are called "catfish" but they clearly are not!!
lucskalures@aol.com wrote:Robin,
I'm guessing the Bullheads your talking about are in freshwater, I known their are saltwater catfish but no bullhead, but not positive - caught quit a few saltwater fishing in Florida, they are much more silverly then the channel cat that are more gray in color, I believe they called them Silver Catfish or Saltwater Catfish. Also some of your bigger inland freshwater rivers should have some big catfish (Blue or Flathead or the most common the Channel) chicken livers and few others stink and dip baits won't the best for me catching Channel Cats but larger minnows or even bluegills have caught some nice Blue and Flathead Catfish but then again the nightcrawler have caught them all.
have a great day everyone, Marty

Maine has catfish. We call them bull-heads.They are not nearly so big as mid-west cat fish.I have not eaten them but they are popular.I would love to catch bigger catfish sometime.I see them on tv alot.We use worms to get them.If you ever visit Bar Harbor, I can tell you where to go to see them. They bite best in the evening.
Doug Wilson <catfish.wilson@yahoo.com> wrote:Robin Welcome to the group. Catfish here. I live in Michigan and fish alot. I am glad to hear that more ladies fish and talk about fishing. Robin Hoskins <hoskins_robin@yahoo.com> wrote:Thank you very much! As the year moves along I will have good things to ask. About Bar harbor, you were very close to the name of the park. The name is Acadia. So many people put an "r" in there! I lived further inland, near Ellsworth. You would have gone thru it to get to Bar Harbor.Millions drive there now every year! There are alot of places that put up "No fishing" signs. It is very sad! They are not as common as "No hunting" signs thank goodness! Have others seen this trend? Our lakes are rather free of this. There are lots of parking places. Thanks again for your nice welcome!!
